HCT has developed rail integration and short sea shipping between Toronto & Montreal lane to move freight off congested highways and onto lower-emission corridors.

Less congestion means fewer emissions.

By using our regional terminals and container yards, we reduce unnecessary mileage, idling, and wait times that contribute to emissions in high-traffic zones.

Investing in a Greener Future

HCT is actively investing over $75 million into sustainable freight infrastructure, including a short sea shipping venture between Hamilton and Montreal, an intermodal rail corridor currently pending CBSA approval, and the gradual introduction of hybrid and electric fleet equipment.

These projects are designed to shift freight off highways and onto cleaner, more efficient modes of transport. It’s our long-term commitment to building a smarter, lower-emission logistics network for the region.
